murals

Watch this short video about our process

  • A-ware Studio creates large-scale ceramic tile murals for indoor and outdoor spaces. Our intention is to create thoughtful beauty that elicits tranquility and delight that is comforting in the contemporary daily experience. Our conceptual approach is always driven by the project brief, ensuring equitable input from all stakeholders. Our past projects have conveyed images of hope, nature, eternal learning, gratitude, aspiration, and contemplation. The work always conveys a poetic beauty about the ironies of life and serves as simple delights in a complicated world.

  • Ideal for public art, the quirky nature of stoneware clay tile is versatile for any design aesthetic; it can be colorful and vibrant, or subdued and subtle, and always earthy and dimensional. Our ceramic tile murals are made in high-fire stoneware clay which is extremely durable and glazed with a resilient surface that is highly resistant to defacement, specifically tagging and graffiti. These ceramic murals have excellent thermal qualities as ceramic does not conduct heat or degrade with direct sunlight, unlike other sculptural materials. Additionally, ceramic is an archival material that can last for millennia and may also be removed with a careful technique and re-installed at another site. A-ware Studio has over a decade of professional experience making art for public spaces and we approach the logistics of public art production in a mindful and creative, yet practical manner.

  • A-ware Studio approaches large-scale ceramic tile murals as a truly community-based medium and promotes the positive impact of community artwork. It contributes to the creation of an inclusive public voice, one that can bring beauty to everyday life, resonating both personally and collectively. A-ware Studio is dedicated to the promotion of art education to diverse populations and generations, and draws on multi-cultural traditions, with the intention to make artwork that is truly accessible, relevant, and timeless.

  • Over the past decade, we have produced more than 2000 square feet of architectural tile works for both public and private commissions. We have worked with both private and public clients, including the City of San Bernardino, East Valley Community Health Center, and California State University.

  • A-ware Studio offers private consulting in the areas of ceramic production, ceramics education, public art development, RFQ/RFP, and community-based art projects for both public and private sectors.
