Big up to Matt

As a Professor, my biggest honor is to watch students grow and reach their potential as artists in the profession of ceramics. When I think of the thousands of students I have worked with, there are so many great stories and I am going to share a few of them over the next couple of weeks.

Matt Dickerson is a real stand-out. He graduated from CSUSB in 2011 and he embarked on his career as a ceramics technician and commercial production artist. He has truly carved out a unique path with comprehensive skill sets in studio management, 3D ceramics printing, mold making, slip-casting, and object prototyping. In 2014, Matt was hired at Bauer Pottery of Los Angeles where he has cultivated his skills in commercial ceramics. Shortly after that, he was hired as the CSUSB ceramics technician. Matt has served our department with sound knowledge, leadership, and innovation. He is great with students and has an outstanding work ethic. Matt has worked on all tile mural projects and he is currently the Production Manager on our Eternal Learning project. We could not do this project without him.

He also finds time to make his own throwing sculptural objects.

Did I also mention he plays the trombone?

Next week Matt will take over our social media. Be sure to tune in to see our mural production through his POV on Instagram and TikTok.
